Days 15-21 (Week 3). I've recovered nicely since my slip up on Day 14, and since last week was school vacation week, I was so super busy being the coolest, most involved mom to a houseful of sweet, lovable children that I was far too engaged to break away to the laptop.
(HA!!! Okay - I was busy being super-Mom, but that was more to keep myself sane and the kids from killing each other. And it's true, I didn't do much blogging, tweeting or media of any sort last week.)
But remarkably I still ate decently - and even managed to lose a couple more pounds! The few days of above freezing sun-shiny weather didn't hurt either - making me think of skimpier clothes and exposed skin. Not to mention I actually donned a bikini (yes, this very one) for 2 days at a Cape Cod Indoor Water Park, and knew exactly where the bites of greasy fries would go, if I chose to steal them from lovable children's plates.
So I did what I generally do - passed up dessert for drinks. skipped the between meal snacks for some wine -- and had an absolutely fabulous February Vacation. And the 6 pounds I'm down had a little to do with my mood too!
Here's a round-up of my meals, snacks and workouts over the past week. As you can see, I wasn't perfect, but all in all - not so bad. And my metabolism must be finally helping me out a bit more with all the added workouts. (Bottom Line - no I don't feel guilty about occasional beer or drink)
Breakfasts
Or egg whites on whole grain bread with fruit and yogurt.
Or once or twice an egg-white flatbread from DD (Not awesome, but better than the chocolate donuts had by all)
Or oatmeal with flaxseed, bee pollen, wheat germ, cinnamon and mixed berries
Always coffee with skim milk and sometimes sugar free hazelnut syrup
Always water water water (Gotta make the newly acquired Poland Spring service worthwhile too, for husband's, I mean money's sake)
Snacks
-1/2 cup pineapple
Or handful pretzels with hummus
Or strawberries and vanilla yogurt
Or celery with low fat veggie dip
Or Light Beer (it WAS vacation week!)
Or Low fat cheese stick
Always water
Lunches
-Salad with grilled chicken & homemade dressing
Or Turkey on Whole Wheat Sandwich Thin with mustard
Or Homemade Chicken Salad with smidgeon mayo
Or Veggie Chili (while at a restaurant)
Always Water
Sometimes With a Light Beer or two, or glass of wine
Dinners
-Shakeology

Or Salad with couscous, grilled chicken and homemade dressing
Or Mexican Salad (salsa instead of dressing)

Nightly Drinks
This list could get pretty exhaustive, so basically - just visit this link and tick off at least 1 for each night of vacation week.
Workouts
-5 days out of 7 is pretty impressive, if I do say so myself. Maybe it was the alone time in the midst of crazy vacation week chaos that drove me to actually commit to this schedule.. Whatever it was, it consisted of 3 days of P90X and 2 days of Insanity plus weights.
Each session was 50-60 minutes, oh, and also included in this regimen were a few hours of waterslide riding and wave pool swimming. No wonder the scales were moving -- and sucking it in all weekend in the pool probably burned a few extra calories too.
The Will Power Moments of Vacation Week
So many good ones:
-Not ordering (and then not eating others') fries at lunches out.
-Having wine when I really wanted one of the Butterscotch Mudslides that the hotel was serving. This one was hard.
-Ordering straight tequila rather than sugary margaritas at Date Night. (this also was a a vacation-, and therefore 30-Day Challenge salvation- night)
-Smuggling in my own wine bottles to hotel, so wouldn't have to drink full calorie beers at bar.
-And the best one: WATCHING the kids make their all-the-fixins' hot fudge sundaes, while sipping on a skinny peppermint flavored drink, so my palette wouldn't like the taste even if I caved. I didn't - just poured a second!
Not bad! And the best part of it all? Vacation Week, while fun and kidtastic, is now...OVER! And the school bus took away my three little temptation-taunters, leaving me a chance to get back on a regular scheduled Liquor Chick worthy Challenge Week. Not that I can lose the remaining 4 pounds in the week and a half I have left, mind you. That would be unhealthy.... And I. well, I will continue to lose these last little winter layers the right way - with the right eating, exercising and imbibing. And have fun doing it! Check ya next week!
